Aaron Leabourn (Az)
Fitness Instructor
My Name is Aaron but most people call me "Az"
I've had almost 10 years experience as a physical exercise instructor that mostly revolved around functional fitness and crossfit movements.
I believe its the most effective and quickest way to get fit in the modern age.
It incorporates strength, power, speed and endurance in one complete package.
Before that I played alot of social touch rugby and indoor netball and cricket.
Spent years playing rugby union and Rugby League when I was younger.
I competed in alot of Crossfit Competitions up and down the country for 5 years and entered the NZ Open, Masters League, Age group and Partners Competitions.
I then retired from competing and ended up teaching crossfit in a couple of gyms back home in Whakatane and have been teaching it ever since to anyone keen to learn.
Fitness and exercise is only a part of Health and Wellbeing which is the end goal to living the best possible life while on this Earth.

Mike (Big Mack) Mackay
Personal Trainer & Fitness Instructor
Kia ora everyone, my name is Mike and my fitness journey started back in the mid-90s playing multiple sports and coaching junior footy. In 2003 I looked for a new goal to work towards after retiring from these sports.
I tried powerlifting and was hooked, started strength training, competing regularly, and coaching other lifters while they competed, focusing on technique and increasing muscle mass. It also led me to compete in bodybuilding for 2 years.
I joined 828 Fitness Huntly shortly after it opened and earlier this year had the privilege of coaching a small team of lifters who attended the Outlaw Deadlift only Comp in Te Awamutu. From there our team 828 All or nothing has grown from 5 to 12 amazing lifters. Super proud of this team. There is no specific stereotype for powerlifting, you can be young or old, big or small, strong or committed, as its good technique rather than just brute strength that wins in the end. So, if you’re interested in a pathway into powerlifting just reach out.
Favorites' quotes “Bars always loaded” “stay in the grind.”
